Circular milling

Slot milling, cut-off milling and gear milling: These are just three processes that the circular interpolation milling system from Paul Horn GmbH masters productively. A true all-rounder, the extensive tool portfolio of this tool system can also handle a number of other milling processes. It can be used from an internal diameter of 8 mm for precise boring, slot milling of narrow grooves with a width of 0.2 mm, or the milling of splines. The system is proven to be a problem solver in its numerous standard variants, as well as in special custom versions for other milling processes.

The circular milling system from Horn offers the user a number of process advantages: It is fast, reliable and achieves good surface finish. The tool, which is guided on a helical path, plunges into the material at a steep or shallow angle. This allows threads, for example, to be produced with reproducibly high quality. Compared to conventional machining with indexable inserts for larger diameter milling cutters or solid carbide for smaller diameters, circular milling is generally more economical. Circular milling cutters have a wide range of applications. They machine steel, special steels, titanium, aluminium and special alloys. The precision tools are particularly suitable for slot milling, circular drilling, thread milling, T-slot milling, profile milling and gear milling. However, they are also impressive in special applications such as milling sealing grooves or connecting rod machining.

Horn additionally offers tools for milling narrow grooves for circular milling. This enables the user to save on cost-intensive machining processes for the production of narrow grooves. Depending on the diameter, Horn offers the tools in cutting widths from 0.25 mm to 1 mm as standard. The maximum milling depth tmax is between 1.3 mm and 14 mm, depending on the tool diameter. According to the material to be machined, the inserts are available with different coatings. Due to its mass, the solid carbide tool shank ensures vibration damping during milling. All tool shank variants are equipped with an internal coolant supply.
