Tool system for Escomatic machines
With the S271 tool system, Paul Horn GmbH is expanding its range to include a tooling solution for Escomatic automatic lathes. The system comprises matched tool holders and precision-ground inserts for the various machines in the series. The tool holders feature an interface adapted to the specific machine type and can be integrated into the machines’ turning tool positions. The inserts are available either with a fine-ground chip-breaker or in a µ-finish version. To ensure high process reliability, Horn relies on the well-known ES1 HiPIMS coating. Thanks to the thin coating, the cutting edges remain sharp and are suitable for machining small precision parts.
Escomatic automatic lathes operate on a different principle to conventional sliding- or fixed-head turning machines. Whilst the raw material remains stationary, the entire tool assembly rotates around the workpiece. This process is particularly suitable for the cost-effective production of small components in high volumes. Typical applications can be found in connector manufacturing, the automotive industry, electronics, the medical sector and the watchmaking industry. The Horn range covers the common D and NM machine series. In addition to standard inserts, the range includes coated carbide blanks. Users can grind these individually for prototype machining or small-batch production and adapt them to their specific machining tasks. Thanks to the Greenline process, special cutting inserts in various shapes can also be manufactured and delivered quickly according to customer requirements.
