New cutting width for the System 315

Horn is expanding the System 315 grooving system to include a new variant for form grooving up to a width of 20 mm (0.787"). The system comprises standard toolholders as well as customised insert profiles for different workpiece contours. Users can machine wide form geometries in a single operation with this system. The expansion is particularly suitable for components with complex groove profiles and high process reliability requirements. For this new variant, Horn has developed a toolholder featuring both a top clamp and wedge clamping.

The tools are available in right-hand and left-hand versions with a shank size of 25 x 25 mm (0.984" x 0.984"). Horn is specifically supplementing the existing System 315 for wide form grooves and expanding the range of turning applications. For the variant with a 20 mm (0.787") grooving width, Horn utilises a modified top clamp with an M6 clamping screw, as well as new concepts incorporating wedge clamping. It is based on an existing clamping element and enables the clamping concept to be applied to larger cutting widths. At the same time, Horn optimised the chip clearance space and developed adapted toolholder geometries for stable machining processes.
